Department of Human Development and Education Studies
Head of Department: Professor Grzegorz Szumski
The Department of Human Development and Education Studies conducts advanced, interdisciplinary research on human development and educational processes from a lifelong perspective. The research team includes specialists representing andragogy, philosophy, general pedagogy, special education, developmental psychology, and sexology.
The Department’s scholarly activity encompasses philosophical reflection, fundamental theoretical inquiry, and empirical research on the nature, condition, and development of the human being, as well as applied research focused on supporting learning processes — including biographical and collective learning — sexual development, and the functioning of individuals with diverse needs. The interdisciplinary character of the research enables the development of new educational concepts, comprehensive diagnostic frameworks, and innovative practical solutions aimed at improving quality of life and expanding educational opportunities across diverse social and civilisational contexts.
