Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are short, intensive programs that combine physical and virtual mobility, facilitating teamwork and experience exchange through collaborative e-learning. These programs may include challenge-based learning, where transnational and transdisciplinary teams work together to address specific challenges, such as those related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals or other social challenges faced by particular regions, cities, or enterprises. The program should offer added value compared to existing courses or training provided by the participating higher education institutions and may span several years.

By providing new and more flexible mobility formats that combine physical and virtual participation, Blended Intensive Programmes aim to reach all types of students from diverse backgrounds, fields, and study cycles.

Short BIP programs can be organized for learning, teaching, and training purposes for both students and staff. During a BIP, groups of students and/or staff undertake short-term physical mobility abroad combined with a mandatory virtual component. The virtual component must provide learners with space for collaborative, synchronous online work on specific tasks that are part of the BIP and contribute to achieving the overall learning outcomes.

Types of mobility:
a) Physical mobility – refers to traveling abroad to the organizer institution’s country to complete the agreed BIP program. The minimum duration is 5 days and the maximum is 30 days, excluding travel days.
b) Virtual mobility – refers to completing the BIP program entirely online outside the organizer institution’s country, enabling teamwork and experience exchange through e-learning.
