Orientation Week
This week, the Faculty of Education at the University of Warsaw welcomed and celebrated international students by organizing the first edition of Orientation Week (supplementing the Orientation Week organized by Welcome Point). It was organized for the first-year students commencing the Graduate Programme of Teaching English to Young Learners as well as for the second-year students in order to help students break the ice and adapt to our faculty. Our students came to Warsaw from all over the world including China, England (UK), The United States, Kurdistan (Iraq), Mexico, Egypt, Turkiye, Thailand and other Polish cities.
Orientation Week was packed with various activities. Newly arrived students had the chance to get familiar with the building and see the most important locations around the faculty. After breaking the ice at a local cafe, they were joined by the second-year GPTE students. The further icebreaker activities were followed by a Q&A session, where the second-year students shared their recommendations and support.
The students were welcomed by Prof. Rafał Godoń, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Katarzyna Brzosko-Barratt, GPTE Program Director, Joanna Głogowska, lecturer and GPTE coordinator, Dr. Paulina Marchlik, Head of Postgraduate Studies in Early English Language Teaching.
On Thursday, the students took part in a guided tour of the historic main campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28. The curator at the Museum of the Warsaw University Przemysław Deles showed them around the museum, the Old University Library, the Column Hall in the Former Musem Building and the seat of the University authorities, i.e. Kazimierz Palace.
